You finish up a wonderful trip or adventure and now you are home wondering what you are going to do with your souvenirs and memories. Or you might be sitting at home wanting to remember a trip or share with a friend but can’t find all your items because they are in separate boxes all over the house. Let me share with you how I store all my keepsake items from a trip!
I like to use a variety of boxes and storage items, which I will share with you in this article. Using boxes makes it easy to toss all of the items in one place so you can easily go back to enjoy them but they still remain out of the way from your daily life. You can store anything in these boxes from recipes, ticket stubs, brochures, postcards, currency, and more! You can also use different types of boxes to store items by type (i.e. all postcards, all concert tickets, etc.) or by trip (i.e. everything from NYC or Spain, etc.).

Photo boxes
I have mine stacked neatly on a shelf that are labeled by trip/ location. These boxes hold receipts, candy wrappers, plane tickets, baggage tags, and other smaller items. I love photo boxes because you can get ones that are plain or have designs but they can still be uniform on a shelf. Many that I have come from Michael’s but you can also find some here on amazon.
Themed book/box
My box like this has all my postcards from any trip I have taken. I keep this out on a shelf in my living room which allows me to easily go back through them or show them off. The postcards normally have the location written on them but I also mark the date on the back so I can easily remember which trip it was. Postcards are one of my favorite souvenirs to collect, in another post I explain the pros and cons of different souvenirs you can check out here. While my box came from a friend, you can check out these cute boxes online!
Wooden book box
Wooden boxes are nice because they can be sturdier than a cardboard box allowing you to store heavier items or get into more without concern of damage (especially if you have small children). Wooden boxes also allow you to customize them with different colors, designs, or labels. I painted mine blue and added words stating “been there…” and “done that…” where I store most of my ticket stubs for activities or concerts. You can find the wooden boxes I used here!
Little themed box
To keep small like-items together, I like to use little boxes. My favorite one is my little box that looks like a suitcase. I use them to store my pressed pennies and any foreign currency I bring home. These boxes make it easy to store similar items and know exactly where to find them! My box came from a Hobby Lobby sale, but you can find small, themed boxes here online!
